Severe Weather Update for February 03, 2022

Severe Weather Update for February 03, 2022

Republic Services has made the decision to postpone trash collection on Friday, February 04, due to hazardous road conditions. Thursday’s collection is now scheduled for Saturday, February 05, and Friday’s collection will be on Monday, February 07, with the regularly scheduled Monday collection.
Town Office and the HP Library will once again be closed to encourage staff, visitors, and residents to stay safe and off of the hazardous roads. Staff are working remote, and able to conduct regular services. Parks, Public Works, and the HPDPS employees are all actively working through the weather to assist residents.
We encourage you to stay indoors and off the icy roads, as freezing temperatures are predicted through Saturday.
For more information and updates about Town Services impacted by the weather, please visit hptx.org/588/Severe-Weather-Updates.

HPISD Expects To Announce Plans Later Today Regarding School

HPISD Expects To Announce Plans Later Today Regarding School

Given the likelihood of the approaching winter storm, HPISD is expecting to announce its plans later today regarding school for the rest of the week. District staff will evaluate updated information from the National Weather Service before reaching a final decision.

For now, staff and students are encouraged to make plans as if classes will not be held Thursday and Friday. Driving conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly overnight, making travel conditions hazardous.

Thank you.

The decision on whether schools will be closed will be announced through the following outlets:

  • HPISD text message alert system (Need to sign up? Click here)
  • HPISD email notification to parents and staff
  • Announcement on hpisd.org
  • Posts on the district’s Facebook page and Twitter feed
  • A recorded message on the HPISD main switchboard (214-780-3000). Please remember to call this main number, not the campuses.
  • The district will also inform television and radio stations. They share such information at their discretion. For the most accurate information, we suggest parents and staff check hpisd.org.

Any changes and/or cancellations to after-school events and/or activities including programs offered through Academy for Lifelong Learning will be posted on the HPISD Event Cancellation webpage as they are received.
